Who We Are
Juxtah (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is a mobile app that saves the places mentioned in posts you share with it and alerts you when you are near one. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and your rights.

What We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your email address and a hashed password. If you sign in with Apple or Google instead, we receive your name, your email address (Apple may give us a private relay address in place of your real one) and an identifier for your account with them. We never see your Apple or Google password.
You can add a display name and a profile photo. Both are optional.
Location Data
Juxtah collects your precise GPS location, including in the background when the app is not in use. We use this to:
- Show you saved and nearby locations relevant to where you are
- Send you push notifications when you are near a location you have saved
- Sort and display distances to your saved places
Your location is sent to our server so it can check which of your saved places are nearby. Our server uses it to answer that request and does not save it. We do not keep a history of where you have been.
You can revoke location permission at any time in your device settings. Background location is only used to power nearby alerts — we do not sell your location, share it with advertisers, or use it for advertising.
Saved Content
We store the locations, lists, and notes you create within the app on our servers. This data is associated with your account and is used to sync your content across devices and sessions.
Links You Share With Juxtah
When you share a post or paste a link, we send that link to our server. To find the places it mentions, our server retrieves the public post and has it read by the services listed under “Third-Party Services” below. Those services receive the link and the post’s public content. They do not receive your name, email address or account identifier.
We keep a record of each share, and a copy of the post’s image, for about two weeks so you can come back to it. After that both are deleted. Places you chose to save are kept until you delete them.
Lists You Share With Other People
If you share a list, anyone with its link can see the list’s name, the places on it and your display name (or “Juxtah user” if you have not set one). They never see your email address. You can stop sharing a list at any time, which turns its link off for everyone.
If you ask us to email an invitation, we collect the email address you enter and use it only to send that invitation. The person who receives it can stop all further invitations from Juxtah using the link in the email.
Push Notification Token
We collect a device push token (via Firebase Cloud Messaging) to send you notifications when you are near a saved location. This token is stored on our servers and tied to your account.
We keep a record of the alerts we send you (which saved places, and when) for up to one year. We use it to confirm that alerts are being delivered and to fix problems when they are not. It records the saved place, not where you were.
Purchase Information
If you subscribe to Juxtah Premium, purchases are processed through Apple App Store and managed by RevenueCat. We do not store your payment card details. RevenueCat collects purchase history and subscription status tied to your Juxtah account identifier — see RevenueCat’s Privacy Policy for details.
Usage and Diagnostic Data
We collect information about how the app is used, such as signing up, saving a place, opening the subscription screen, or which website a shared link came from (for example “tiktok.com”, not the link itself). We also collect crash reports. We use both to find problems and improve the app.
This information is collected through Google’s Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics. We do not attach your name, email address or account identifier to it.
Advertising Measurement
We advertise Juxtah on other platforms, including Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and Apple. To learn whether those ads work:
- The app includes Meta’s software, which tells Meta when the app is installed or opened and when three things happen: you create an account, you save your first place, or you start a subscription. As with any internet request, Meta also receives technical details such as your device model, operating system version and IP address.
- If you installed Juxtah after tapping an ad in the App Store, Apple tells us which ad and search term it was. We pass this to RevenueCat so we can see which ads lead to subscriptions.
We do not send Meta your name, email address, account identifier, location, saved places or the links you share. Juxtah does not ask for permission to track you across other companies’ apps and websites, and it does not collect your device’s advertising identifier.
Messages You Send Us
If you email us, including through the Feedback button in the app, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it to reply and to improve Juxtah.

We do not sell your data. We do not show ads inside Juxtah. The only advertising use of data is the measurement described under “Advertising Measurement” above.
Third-Party Services
Juxtah uses the following third-party services that may process your data:
- Firebase (Google) — push notifications, app security, file storage, usage analytics and crash reports. Privacy Policy

- Google Gemini — reading the public content of a post you share to find the places it mentions. Privacy Policy

Data Retention
We retain your account and saved content for as long as your account is active. Some records are kept for a shorter, fixed time:
- Records of links you shared, and the copies of their post images: about two weeks
- Records of alerts we sent you: up to one year
If you delete your account, your email address, name, profile photo, saved locations, lists, notes, push tokens and alert records are permanently deleted from our servers, and any lists you shared stop working. Copies may remain in backups for up to 30 days. Usage and crash data is not tied to your account, so it cannot be singled out and deleted; it expires on the schedule set by the service that holds it. Apple and RevenueCat keep their own records of purchases.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you
- Delete your account and all associated data (via Settings → Account → Delete Account)
- Revoke location permission at any time via your device settings
- Opt out of push notifications via your device settings
- Stop sharing any list you have shared, from that list in the app

Children
Juxtah is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or by email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
